Regardless of so called "green" initiatives within the fashion industry, consumption is growing by double digits every year. And 60% of all garment’s sold are thrown away within a year. Clothing brand Asket is working to change this, and to restore the value of garments by creating a reduced wardrobe that stand the test of time. But how do you make people realize that we can’t shop our way to sustainability?

Solution

We decided to skip “sustainability” and try “responsibility” for a change. And created The Impact Receipt, a new kind of receipt that that shows the true environmental cost caused by Asket’s garment production. As part of their sustainability work, products sold by Asket is now followed by a receipt showing the garments CO2 emissions, water and energy consumption. Hopefully we think twice before buying something new and keep what we buy longer. Within days after launch it was picked up by the big fashion magazines. And went on to win General Excellence in Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Awards.
